Dear HNP Families,
 
We thank Liz & Jeff (Jacob-RF-B) for organizing our Taco & Bounce House Family Fiesta Night last Friday!  It was a great success!  We hope your family had a fun time meeting new friends.  It was wonderful to see many past alumni students at the event!
 
We hope many of you can join the preschool families at the Ocean Beach Clean-Up this morning. Please meet at Stairwell 17 (across the street from Beach Chalet) @ 10:00 am.  Thank you to Amy (Nishika-RF-B) & John (Jessie-BF) for organizing this family event.  The weather is perfect for cleaning our beautiful beach!
 
Thank you the Parent Committee for organizing the Parent Meeting/Kindergarten Info Night this Tuesday in the Blue Fish from 6:30-8:00 pm.  
 
Lastly, thank you for returning the OT consent  forms.  We have screenings scheduled this Monday, Thursday and Friday.  As mentioned last week, on our website, you will find the class handouts provided at the Back to School Night-Preschool Link.

Dear HNP Families,
 
We will have a very busy October!  This month, we welcome Casey Nelson, our new substitute teacher for our program.  Ms. Casey graduated recently from Cal State East Bay with a Liberal Arts Degree.  She has 19 units in Early Childhood Education and has nannied for many years.  Welcome Ms. Casey!
 
Thank you to the Parent Committee for organizing our 1st Parent Education Night with Michelle Kemper, OT last week.  Michelle provided a brief workshop on topics related to child development and OT, including sensory processing, fine/gross motor skills, self-regulation and attention/executive functioning techniques for young children.  Michelle has partnered with us as our OT consultant.  She and her staff will provide OT screenings to all our students in October during the school hours.  Please sign the attached Consent Form.  The staff will discuss the screenings with parents during the Parent-Teacher Conferences in November.  
 
Please find attached the RF A, RF B and the BF October Newsletters.  Again, the classes will post a monthly newsletter with themes of the month.  Also attached is the October Lunch menu.  On our website, you will find the class handouts provided at the Back to School Night-Preschool Link
 
Lastly, we are accepting a few more applications for the preschool for the 2020-2021 school year.  We are full for the Blue Fish classroom, but do have a few openings in the RF classroom.  If you have any younger siblings or know of any families interested in touring/applying for our program for 2020-2021, please notify us asap.

Dear HNP Families,
 
We hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weekend!  Just a reminder, with the warm weather, please apply sunscreen on your children before arriving to school.  If you would like us to reapply in the afternoons, please provide your child's sunscreen (labeled) to your child's teachers.

Dear HNP Families,
 
Thank you to everyone who attended our Back to School Night last Friday!  We hope you were able to meet your child's teachers, meet other parents and was informed of some of the wonderful activities that are happening in your child's classroom.  Thank you to the Parent Committee for their presentation of future events happening at our school and explaining how your support is so very important.
 
For those who could not attend the evening, please ask your child's teachers for their info packet that was distributed during the evening.  The packets will also be on our website by the end of this week.  
 
Please attend our Spirit Mass next Sunday at 9:30 am.  Father Arnold and the parish community will bless our teaching staff.  Please meet our entire parish community-the elementary school families and staff, our parish ministry leaders and our parishioners.   After the mass, there will be our Annual International Food Fair in our gym  Our preschool will have a Kids Booth at the fair.  
 
Lastly, we hold a weekly yoga class in the Flanagan Center on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm.  Please join the staff and parents for a light yoga class.

Dear HNP Families,
 
We hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend!  Moving forward, we have a very busy September!
 
Starting this Tuesday, we will resume our movement classes with Pal Mel on Tuesday afternoons.  On Wednesdays, Ms. Gay will teach Music to the RF classes in the mornings.  I will teach Kids Yoga to the BF students in the afternoons on Thursdays.  Next Monday, Soccer Shots will be teaching soccer to all the classes on Monday afternoons.  
 
Also, this week, we welcome two interns from USF-Kayla Lawhorn and Milika Hicks.  Both Ms. Kayla and Ms. Milika are seniors majoring in Psychology.  They are completing their 100 volunteer hours at our preschool program.  Welcome Ms. Kayla and Ms. Milika!
 
Our Back to School Night is this Friday, September 6th, from 6:00-7:30 pm. We will meet in the Flanagan Center at 6:00 pm.  There will be light refreshments served.  At 6:30 pm, the staff will introduce themselves and then advance into their classrooms.  Please join them in your child's classrooms to learn about all the fun and engaging activities the teachers are planning for them.  The Parent Committee will also introduce themselves and inform you of some their fun community  projects throughout the year.  
 
Please join the entire Holy Name Community at our Spirit Mass on Sunday, September 15th at 9:30 am at our beautiful church.  Please arrive early as parking will be difficult.  Father Arnold will bless all our students and the teaching staff.  There will be the International Food Fair immediately following the Mass at our gym.  I have attached the flyer so you may purchase tickets.  Our Preschool Parent Committee will have a Kids Food Booth at the fair.  We hope you can join us at both events!

Dear HNP Families,
 
We survived the first week!  Thank you parents for helping us make our first week so successful.  Thank you to our Parent Committee for hosting the morning coffee and treats.  
 
Going forward, the RF and BF staff will submit a monthly newsletter with all the important information parents will need-e.g. important dates, themes of the month, birthdays, etc.  The staff will update the newsletter if needed.  Look for the September newsletters next week.

Dear HNP Families,
 
We are so excited to start our new school year next week!  We welcome back our returning students and look forward to meeting our new students!
 
We also welcome some new staff members!  In our Red Fish (A) room , we welcome Leeann Crisman, our Lead teacher and Wendy Zhang, our teacher's aide.  Leeann has a B.A. in  Child Adolescent Development from SF State University and has five years of teaching experience.  Wendy recently graduated from SJ State University with a B.A. in  Child Adolescent Development.  In our Blue Fish class, we welcome Kathy Araullo, our teacher's aide.  Kathy has over forty Early Childhood Education units and over 30 years of teaching/nannying experience.  We are thrilled to have Ms. Leeann, Ms. Wendy and Ms. Kathy join us!  The RF room teachers are: RF (A)- Ms. Leeann, Ms. Joselyn, Ms. Wendy, Ms. Ann/RF (B) teachers-Ms. Kristy, Ms. Marilu and Ms. Tara.   The BF teachers are: PreK-Ms. Lucy, Ms. Jane, Ms. Sunjoo/T-K -Ms. Liz, Ms. Kathy & Ms. Sabrina.  On our sign-in table and doors will be a list of which classroom your child has been assigned to.  
 
Other staff news would be that Ms. Sandy will now be our in-house substitute teacher.  Ms. Sandy is returning to school to obtain her Masters in Human Development with an Emphasis in Early Childhood Education..   We are excited to have Ms. Sandy as our substitute as she is very familiar with our program and families.  Ms. Sara has moved to the "big school" and will be the Spanish and ELA  (English/Language/Arts) pull-out teacher.  Fortunately for us and the students, Ms. Sara will be able to come and visit us!
 
Thank you parents for returning your forms!  If you haven't done so, please return them by the end of next week.  Everyone will receive a tuition book in their child's cubbie.   Again, your August tuition is prorated in half (the only month this is done).  If you have a sibling in the elementary school or in the preschool, you will receive a 10% discount.  The August tuition is due by August 23rd.  Going forward, the monthly tuition is due by the 10th of each month.
