Grade 7A
Greetings from 7A!
It’s hard to believe that we are well into the third quarter already – the year is flying by. We are stressing to the students how important it is to finish this second half of the school year in an excellent fashion.
In the seventh grade, in Pre-Algebra, we are currently solving two-step and multiple step equations, along with word problems. We will be well-versed in solving basic algebraic equations in preparation for eighth grade. In English, we just completed compelling persuasive letters. We are currently studying nouns in our grammar textbooks and will soon begin reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis.
In the eighth grade, in Algebra, we are currently reviewing polynomial operations from seventh grade, in preparation for learning more advanced operations. We will then study the factoring of polynomial expressions.
On Saturday, February 27th, nine of our eighth grade students will represent Holy Name School at the annual MathCounts competition in San Francisco. This year’s competition will be held at Presidio Middle School. It promises to be an exciting and enriching educational experience!
In honor of March 14th (3/14), we will be celebrating pi day! This is the most exciting math holiday of the year.
